Thursday night football preview from the

Gruden Family Football Show. I have to

But it's the Falcons at the Packers.

John, I will start with you. Big news

this week. The big storyline is that

Michael Penix Jr. will get his first

start since tearing his ACL in November.

And we know how badly these Atlanta

Falcons needed a change at quarterback.

>> Yeah, and I think this is as big uh

opportunity for Mike Penix that he will

ever have. I mean, he's foreign aid as a

starter. This team desperately needs

him. They brought him in here in the

first round. They brought Stefanski in

here to coach him.

This might be the shot in the arm that

the Falcons need to get Kyle Pitts and

Drake London involved in this game plan.

I don't like it. I don't like where the

Falcons are, but I would think this

would rejuvenate this team, give them

some hope. I mean, last week they fumble

on the first play, they throw a pick on

the fifth play. They're just uh God. So,

I think Penix

might make this interesting. I really

believe that the Green Bay Packers

offensive line is decimated. They just

lost their right tackle. Their left

guard is a rookie. I know the Falcons

haven't played very good on defense.

Their pass rushers are hurt. But

I like Green Bay to win. I think Atlanta

on a short week with a new quarterback

gives them hope and will make this a

tight game.

>> Well, when you talk about this Atlanta

offense, Jay, they are the only offense

in the league that has not reached the

red zone. And we saw that Cooper Rush

gets benched. Jack Strong comes in. So,

Michael Penix Jr. coming back has to be

better. But when you look at Green Bay,

they have won 13 straight home openers.

We know how good they are when they're

playing at home. And Jordan Love, while

he's been a little bit uneven, but he

makes the big time throws we know he's

capable of making.

>> He's a great player.

The Packers

did not play very well against the Jets.

They did not protect very well. Jordan

Love was all over the place. I feel like

there's a little disconnect between

between him and Matt LaFleur just a

little bit. The Falcons getting Penix

back will be a huge huge jolt for Bijan,

for Drake London, for everybody, Kyle

Pitts, everybody. So, I think the energy

level will be high for Atlanta, but I

still think despite the terrific

offensive line play against the Jets, I

still think the Packers will win because

they have an elite quarterback in Jordan

Love.

>> And Lambeau Field's a tough place to

play, no?

>> It's a tough place to play.

No question. But, Green Bay, they got a

lot to prove. Their tape in the first

two games hasn't been very good. They

commit more penalties than any team I've

seen. They've committed 27 penalties in

two games. And uh that ain't going to

cut it. Matt LaFleur's too good of a

coach, but Penix is going to help

Atlanta. I got a big I got a big

feeling. They got to play better on

defense. Last week, the Falcon defense,

they're not even lined up. Uh wide

open Carolina Panthers.

Packers are going to win, but it's going

to be closer than you think.

>> At least the Falcons fans have something

to get excited for pregame. Now, they

know they have a quarterback coming in,

but it looks like it's going to be

pretty tough at Lambeau. Make sure you
