How results are shown
Every caption segment containing your words is listed with its timestamp and a link that opens the video at that exact second. Each result also shows the caption line before and after it, so you can see the context instead of a fragment. Matching ignores upper and lower case.
Quoting accurately
- Always play the moment before publishing a quote. Captions, especially auto-generated ones, can mishear words, and a single wrong word can change the meaning.
- Read the surrounding lines. The previous and next segments show whether the speaker was joking, quoting someone else, or answering a question.
- Mark the timestamp in your citation so readers can check it themselves.
- Keep quotes short and attributed. Quote the part you are discussing and link to the source rather than reproducing long passages.
When a phrase doesn’t show up
Captions are split into short segments, so a long phrase can be broken across two of them. Search for the most distinctive two or three words instead. If a name doesn’t match, try how speech recognition might have spelled it. To cite the moment formally, take the timestamp to the Citation Generator.
